TATTOO AFTERCARE

Because what's the point of getting a tattoo if you won't care for it?

It takes 2-3 weeks for your tattoo to heal.

How to unwrap your fresh masterpiece that lays within your skin?

SECOND SKIN

A waterproof, antibacterial and breathable protective barrier.

  • You can keep the second skin on for up to 4 days.

  • Take off the second skin in the shower.

Reasons to take it off before the 4 days:

  • In case of any irritation or redness, please take it off.

  • Is there liquid in the second skin barrier? Make sure to take it off.

CLING FILM

If you have used Second skin before and did not like it for any reason, you can choose to use clingfilm instead.

  • Keep the bandage for at least 2 hours, no more than 5 hours, though this may depend on the tattoo size.

Washing

  • Gently clean your fresh tattoo with lukewarm water and antibacterial soap.
    - CAREX or hypoallergenic soap.

  • Pat dry with a paper kitchen towel or leave to airdry.

  • Keep tattoo fresh and open to air.

Tattoo Cream and Moisturising

  • Apply a thin layer of a tattoo specific cream (e.g. Palmer’s Cocoa Butter, Hussle Butter, Bepanthen Tattoo)
    - 2 - 3 times a day, for the first 3 weeks,

  • Ensure you tattoo is completely dry before applying cream.

  • Wash your hands before applying.

  • You can start using other skin moisturisers after 3 weeks, or when its fully healed.

What to Avoid

  • Avoid Petroleum-based products.
    - No vaseline, bepanthen or coconut oil on fresh tattoos.

  • No picking or scratching on your tattoo.
    - when it feels itchy, which often it does when a scab forms, gently slap the area around the tattoo.
    - This avoids ink loss.

  • No over-applying tattoo cream
    - It is important for the tattoo to breathe

  • No gym for at least 10 days after your tattoo session
    - sweating isn't good for you fresh tattoo
    - light exercise is ok, as long as you do not touch you healing tattoo to any equipment or mats

  • Avoid direct contact with the sun/ UV for 3 weeks
    - Sun protecting clothes
    - make sure to use SPF50+ once your tattoo is healed

  • No soaking in water, swimming, or prolonged showers for 4-6 weeks.

  • Do not wear tight and abrasive material that can rub on you healing tattoo.
